DECEMBER
Andy joined the group as a shared PhD student with the Rogers Lab. Andy will work on ASICs.
We were awarded a Carlsberg Infrastructure grant.
This will enable us to purchase a FIDA system for biophysical characterization of proteins.

NOVEMBER
Esther joined the lab as an industrial PhD student with the Rogers Lab and Gubra.

OCTOBER
Lucas joined the group as a PhD student. Lucas will work on taste receptors.

SEPTEMBER
We were awarded a departmental grant together with Singe Torekov!
This will allow us to embark on a novel collaboration with the Torekov group.

AUGUST
Two new students started their MSc projects in the Autzen Group.
Boqi will work on pharmacological characterization of taste receptors.
Jan will work on biochemical and biophysical characterization of NHEs.

JULY
We were recently awared an Innoexplorer Grant!
This will enable us to take our very latest invented polymer to production.
As we are getting ready for our summer break, we had a lovely Autzen Group summer party.
We started the day with presentations of different methods used in the lab and then did a tresure hunt at the Citadel.
We finished the day with a picnic and delicious Indian food.

Our BSc students Caroline, Emma, Frederik and Maia all passed their BSc projects -
Congrats to all four of them!

MAY
We have moved and we absolutely dig our new neighbourhood.

The lab is taking in students for the academic year 2023/2024

MARCH
The Autzen lab is moving to Department of Biomedical Sciences at UCPH
Come May, the entire team is continuing their research at BMI where Henriette will become tenured Associate Professor.
We are all grateful for the experiences we had at Department of Biology,
but thrilled to start this new chapter.

FEBRUARY
Four new students started their BSc projects in the Autzen lab
Frederik and Maia will work on pharmacological characterization of taste receptors.
Emma and Caroline will work on biochemical and biophysical characterization of NHEs and cASIC1.

JANUARY
The cryo-EM supergroup at UCPH is live
We now have monthly meetings with the labs of Azadeh Shahsavar and Thomas Miller
to learn about and discuss methods and research within cryo-EM.
Sigrid started as a research assistant in the Autzen lab
Sigrid will be optimizing BRET assays for bitter receptors

We hosted the first open house in the Section for Biomolecular Sciences
where students at BIO dropped by to visit our labs and hear more about our research.
The Autzen Lab was distributing taste strips with bitter compounds on them and assessed the distribution of tasters and non-tasters at BIO.

Rosa handed in her BSc thesis, and defended it with with flying colours!
We wish Rosa all the best for next semester of her studies which she will spend in Australia.

Casper and Sigrid established the cell surface ELISA assay in the lab.
We are grateful for protocols from the Safavi and Gloriam labs.

We submitted Milena’s study of the AASTY copolymers for publication

The lab is celebrating a lot of firsts in February and March!
We had our first negative stain done in the Autzen lab - a mammalian membrane protein in AASTY polymers. We also broke in Chewbacca doing FSEC on several new targets the lab is working on.
